The Scientific Editing Company is based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The company was founded in 2010 by Dr. Joanna Young and Dr. Jan Wessnitzer, when they were finishing their postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Edinburgh.
The Scientific Editing Company is proud to be the winner of the 2010 LAUNCH.ed New Ventures Award in recognition of our innovative practices and growth potential. The award was funded by the Open Innovation Project, a three-year, multi-million euro initiative to promote Open Innovation across North West Europe.
The company aims to promote global scientific exchange and discovery. We now work with clients from countries all around the globe and we are continuing to grow. In June 2013, we were delighted to hold our first conference on publishing, the Edinburgh Publishing Conference, where we welcomed speakers from both home and abroad. The conference was a great success, with 150 delegates and several hundred online viewers, and have decided to make it an annual event (see the EPC 2013 talks here). We also hold smaller events throughout the year and these are added to our events page.
In addition to our editing and statistics services, we run workshops for researchers at universities, research institutes and companies. Topics include publishing, promoting your research and enhancing your impact. We also manage the Journal Club 3.0 blog.
